Letter to Parents

Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Beta Xi Chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma at Southeast Missouri State University! Since 1951, our chapter has been dedicated to philanthropy, community service, leadership, and sisterhood. By joining Tri Sigma, our members are given the opportunity to live by our national mission statement: “To establish among its members a perpetual bond of friendship, to develop in them strong womanly character, and to impress upon them high standards of conduct.”

Tri Sigma offers leadership opportunities through executive board positions, standing chair positions, and nationally funded leadership conferences such as the Dunham Women of Character Institute and the Labyrinth Leadership Experience (for more information see Tri Sigma's National Leadership Development). Our sorority is also dedicated to our national philanthropy The Tri Sigma Foundation, which funds therapeutic play, collegiate scholarships, and leadership development for members.

Once a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, sisters are required to complete twenty hours of community service each semester, maintain a 2.75 GPA, abide by Tri Sigma’s no hazing policy, and attend numerous events sponsored by other Greek chapters and other campus organizations.

Most of all, our chapter is committed to strengthening, supporting, and loving every individual sister in our chapter. Our sisters vary in personalities, body type, race, and background and come from many parts of Missouri and beyond. By joining this chapter, our members are more than our friends; they are our sisters, our confidants, and our support systems. Each sister is held accountable for their academics, their actions, and their fellow sisters. Tri Sigma women are women dedicated to developing good character, succeeding at a collegiate level and beyond, and living by the core values of wisdom, strength, faith, hope, and love.

Tri Sigma sisters are part of an organization that outlives their college careers. The lessons that our members learn and the bonds that they make will stay with them long after graduation. Tri Sigma Alumnae are just as dedicated to our national foundation, chapter success, and national standards as active, collegiate members and are responsible for the growth of our sorority.

We hope that your daughter finds her home as a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma and that our sorority teaches her the values that she needs to succeed in life beyond college!

Sincerely,

The Women of Sigma Sigma Sigma, Beta Xi
